Award eh?
So, if you’ve been reading my blog for some time you know that my district was set to shutdown in December.
That time is now only weeks away.
Since the ‘end’, is near the staff got together to organize a going away / welcoming party for the former and current staff and of course for the new Brass for the new department taking over shortly.
Now, I have no problem mingling with people but with so many high level people there I was trying to mind my Ps and Qs.
The LT for GIU apparently put all of General Investigations in for a ‘Unit of the Quarter’ award. That being said I don’t think that after compiling GIUs statistics together that the numbers were impresseive because somehow our jumpout squad, which doesn’t fall under GIU got included in this award…
The Director of my department started reading the statistics out loud for the large crowd of people who showed up for the ‘party’ and I noticed that a large bulk of the stats were almost entirely from my Unit, yet we were last on the long list of units involved in the award. I suppose its a plus that we were even included in the award but I also don’t think that we deserved an award for showing up to work and doing our job.
It may just be me but I would have been ok with a pat on the back more then getting awarded some plaque I’ll never see.
But I suppose I also can’t argue with getting some public acknowledgement of hard work.
Anyhow, on to the ‘new’.
I will be sent to the district just south of the one I currently work in, which is still in the northend of the county so at least I know I’ve got solid people at the top in charge.
I’ll be going back to midnights which was my choice as I love working mids. Im mulling around the idea of putting in to be a Field training officer or more preferably anything investigative like GIU or Autotheft.
We’ll see where this new road takes me.
My partner, Batman will be going with me over there. We got on the same squad so you know we’re going to handle business.
Ultimately I want to make Sergeant. After seeing so many bad ones I feel I could do the job better. That goal however is still at least 2 years away.
We shall see.
