Reflections of the Two Week Burglary Detail.

I’m rounding out the end of two weeks on this Burglary details they had me help ‘start’.

The first week went rather well. The Sergeant wasn’t bothering my unit and we pretty much had free reign to do as we liked.

We’d patrol ‘grids’ and check for wanted subjects with general ease. Using my methods we were able to get 7 burglars in the act and many more wanted subjects.

At the start of the second week the Sergeant began to realize that he wasn’t being heard on the radio and decided it was time to make it ‘known’ to the higher ups that he existed and had some active role in the unit aside from a title.

This is where all the trouble started.

The unit went from nothing but proactive activities, similar to what I do on the Jumpout squad, to retroactive policing; handling calls for service instead of seeking out and dealing with problems before they occur.

By him stepping in and changing something that was producing results simply to make it appear as if he knew how to do the job which was assigned to him, he screwed the entire project up.

On the last day of my first week there I was going to offer my skills as a permanent role in order to help further the unit as a whole.

Now, I can’t wait to get back to my Jumpout squad. Two more days of this nonsense and I’ll be back with my old unit, handling business the correct way.

On a side note, I recently have been getting more and more interested in the Auto-theft unit. I’m going to look into it more but I think that it may be a good idea to start requesting to be sent to the training required for that before my interest in the Auto-theft unit gets even larger then it’s already become.

We’ll see where this interest leads me.

I’ve got a few more months in the district I’m currently in until I get transfered to another spot. I’ll let out more info as I get confirmations.
