Shortly after checking into service today the Lieutenant got on the air saying he picked up a ‘Low-Jack’ code.
A Low-Jack code is the signal a stolen vehicle equipped with a Low-Jack device emits once the beacon has been activated and it sends out a signal a police car with a Low-Jack tracker can pin point and find. It gives the Tag and direction of travel, very useful.
My unit got the Helicopter in the air and into the area, the Low-Jack code came back to a silver motorcycle.
This was going to be tough, as motorcycles are nearly impossible to catch.
A few seconds after we all got into the area the LT advised he saw the bike going south bound on a main avenue. The guy on the bike saw the LT’s car and booked, passing right by another marked unit.
The biker decided to hit back streets and after several minutes we found the bike ditched behind a random house and the subject gone, just as aviation arrived.
He got away.
Then we heard a call go out over the air at a Local indoor flea market.
“BEEP! ATTENTION ALL UNITS, BLACK MALE WITH A GUN INSIDE THE MARKET”.
The entire unit as usual moved in fluid motion towards the market, each of us attempting to block all the parking lot exits as we tried to box him in.
One of our units spotted the guy running with 3 other guys. We took pursuit and caught him just before getting into a car, his buddy’s managed to jump in their Land rover and book.
The guy we caught was fighting and hard at that. We focused on him and BOLO’d the vehicle the others left in, we’d get them some other time.
The subject had a 40 caliber Glock handgun on him and several grams of Marijuana.
He took the ride.
The squad then decided it was time to eat. We visited the local Boston market, a district over.
Nothing like Chicken Pot Pie to satisfy manly food cravings.
After just getting back into our district we got the call of the night.
“BEEP!! ATTENTION ALL UNITS, SHOTS FIRED. VICTIM IS AT THE CORNER STORE ON (INSERT ADDRESS)”
We took off like rockets. Part of being in a Jump out unit is catching the bad guys. It’s actually our main focus and we’re really good at it.
We’re there before any road units show up, as usual.
I pulled up to see an Expedition parked taking up 2 parking spaces in front of this convince store.
The angle I saw was the passengers side, with a trail of blood leading outside of the truck and around the rear of it, leading to the drivers side.
The funny thing was the pool of blood with about 25 grams of Cocaine powder scattered all around it with money sprinkled around for effect. To top that off, both sides of a Revolver handle plating were laying outside of the passengers side.
Drug deal gone bad.
Of course I cracked a joke to my squad mates about ‘baking soda’ laying around as if they weren’t buying drugs but instead making cookies. Looks the same.
The driver of the car was laying in front of the truck, bleeding profusely from his left arm. Must have taken that round at point blank as the blood was all over his side of the car, leaking onto the pavement and flesh and muscle were splattered around the outside of his car.
What I concluded was that the driver drove them to a spot to buy a bulk of Cocaine, the dealers walked up to the passenger side. The passenger attempted to snatch the cocaine from the dealer with his left hand and the dealer pulled a gun. The passenger put his right hand on the gun trying to push it away from him and the dealer shot a round, which went through the passengers right hand and into the drivers left arm. They took off and made it a few blocks before stopping for help.
Needless to say, they both went to jail after talking to detectives from Narcotics.
Stress is hard to dissipate after work. People have ways of releasing that stress, such as my method is this blog. On top of that my wife does a lot. She makes me Tea when I get home and snuggles me.
I can say that if I wasn’t married and didn’t have the support of my wife I’d probably be a wreck.
